Heartbreaking headlines of religious hatred here and abroad can create tension and conflict in our schools. Religious diversity poses a unique set of challenges in both public and private school communities. We’ll begin with a crash course in “Religious Literacy 101,” a basic overview of the religions typically represented in our classrooms. We’ll note some of the inner work we need to do to handle religiously charged situations effectively and then explore specific strategies based on participant case studies. Recommendations for further study will be offered.
